Our Getaway!

We got away for a couple of days this week! It started at this Bed and Breakfast in Eureka Springs, AR. Next, we did a lot of shopping!

And finally, we ended at the new zipline in Branson, MO, the longest in the US!
Ready to go!

You practice way up at the top of the mountain on a baby zipline in the middle of the woods. No big deal. Then, this is the FIRST line you go on-3300 feet long and 350 feet in the air!?!? It was a little windy (which slows you down), so Scott and I didn't make it all the way to the end! The guide came out to help me, but I told him next time I got stuck, I would pull myself to the end:) And it did happen again:)
Looking back up.

That's me!

Scott:

If you are in the Branson area, I would suggest just doing their "Extreme" Zipline. It is only the first, higher/longer zip lines with all of the great views!

Uncle B and Tara's Visit

Uncle B and Tara came this past weekend. Addison enjoyed every minute with them!

Addison took to her immediately!

Pink House: Addison's First Tea Room!

Nana and Poppa flew in last night and both girls are enjoying every minute! Nana and I took Addison to her first tea room about 25 minutes away called The Pink House. Here are a few shots of our lunch.
Hogging ALL of the drinks. Her favorite: My peach mango tea which she sort of took and never gave back:)
Dessert: Key Lime Pie Cake.
As we were leaving, she noticed this plastic dog sitting on one of the tables and wanted to play with it for awhile. Thus, it had to be in ever picture thereafter!

Haircut!

Addison got her first official haircut at Supercuts yesterday! I have been cutting it myself, but she was so squirmy the other night I decided to just get it cut evenly by a professional this time!
All done!

Around the house...

Not much has been going on around here! Just the endless laundry, cooking and cleaning:) Oh yeah, and taking care of the girls!

Nana went to my favorite school supply store back in Raleigh recently and found a Mailbox Magazine book of crafts for preschoolers. I used to have a Mailbox magazine subscription when I was teaching and loved their ideas. I just never thought about them having a preschool one, too!

Here's the first craft we did. I realized that we need to work on her fine motor tearing skills! Of course, we talked about where apples come from, the parts of an apple, colors, etc. And then 10 minutes later she forgot everything we learned and told me that apples come from the ground and are pink. And then she said her apple was green. Hmmm. I am a great teacher. Speaking of apples, if you live in the area, Livesay Orchards in Porter has pick-your-own apples! I've never picked apples from there, but it sounds fun:)
Daddy wanted in on the fun and decided he wanted to make a snack from our Silly Snack cookbook that Mimi bought us.

Bananas + coconut + peanut butter + raisins + pretzels = Yummy caterpillar snack!
They were snacking along the way, too.

And finally, Addison knows now that Scott and I run every Saturday morning. As soon as we put on our shoes she asks us if we are going running! Her favorite part? Stretching! She knows what kind of stretches we do! At one point she told me to come over to the kitchen-she was already doing the calf stretches!

"Mommy, come here!"

Next up: Nana, Poppa, Uncle B and Tara's visit! Plus Scott and I are going on a mini vacation while they are here! We were talking last night about how incredibly excited we are about sleeping in a little. And getting 8 hours of sleep. And eating without inhaling our food. And going to dinner AND a movie without rushing home. It's been a year and a half since we last did this... I CAN'T WAIT!! :)

PS-Happy Birthday, Nana! We hope you have a wonderful day!

Family Trip to AR

Since it has been so beautiful this weekend, we decided to drive to Arkansas for a quick visit to the Wild Wilderness Drive-Through Safari. It was a ton of fun for Addison and for us! During the 4 mile drive, we saw so many animals... hippos, buffalo, bears, etc. Cows, camels, and ostriches all came up to our windows and hung out for awhile up against the car. Addison loved it and kept talking to them!! After the drive, they had several areas to pet animals. There were kangaroos, monkeys, goats, pigs, cows, and even a baby tiger. The kangaroos even had their babies in the pouch. It was amazing to watch the babies just jump in and out of the pouch...crazy!!

The funniest part of the day was with the little monkeys. As one was sitting on my shoulder, he noticed my earings, quickly snatched it and ran! A worker eventually got it back. Immediately after that, Addison was watching another monkey sitting on a chair when he noticed her bow and BAM! He took it right out of her hair and ran! You definitely have to make sure you don't have anything on... they especially LOVE keys! Here are some pictures as well as a video of the monkey stealing her bow. She cried when she realized what he had taken:) Afterwards, we got to have a quick bite to eat with our friends Eric, Michelle and Hannah!

About to jump out...

And quickly back in within a few seconds! Momma doesn't look like she enjoys that part too much:) Or maybe I just feel for her. The other Momma that Addison was feeding had a nice quiet, sleepy little one in her pouch! By the way, that pouch can STRETCH!!

Addison versus monkey. One of the workers did get her bow back and then we thoroughly washed it!

Two and a half!

Addison is almost two and a half! I took her outside for a few minutes before Emma woke up yesterday. She didn't last long, but she actually tolerated one outfit change:)
