Uncle B and Tara

A few days after Nana and Poppa left, we had more visitors! Uncle Brent and Tara came from Michigan and stayed for the long weekend.

It was Canada Day (Canada's July 4th) on Friday, so our town had a (little) festival at the fairgrounds.

After making smoothies last night, Addison decided on her own to share with her sister. How sweet! I don't think she realized how much she'd have to share, though!

Thanks, Uncle B and Tara for a wonderful time! We miss you already!

Nana and Poppa's Visit

Nana and Poppa just left after a great two week stay. This smile sums up their trip:

We did so much while they were here since it has finally warmed up. It was in the 70s-80s the entire time, so it was perfect! Their trip included: the farm to pick strawberries, story time at the library, Toronto a few times, the lake, Niagara Falls, the local parks, etc. Scott and I were also able to go on several dates: Toronto, New York (shopping!), hiking to Rattlesnake Point in the escarpment, and out to dinner. It was AWESOME!

Toronto: We were headed to the Toronto Islands, but there was a festival going on and the line for the ferry was outrageous. Thankfully, we ran into a dog show, magic show, face painting, and really fun wave shaped walkways down along the water. Whew!

Emma is almost 16 months old and although she can walk/take several steps at a time, she still prefers crawling:)

Playdate at the Farm

Addison and Emma met two new playmates at our neighborhood park this week. The sisters are almost 1 and 3, which is perfect! Their mom invited us to go to one of the local farms with them this morning and we all had a great time. The farm is in the escarpment area around our town and you could see all the way to Toronto from the top of the farm (which is an hour away!). Strawberry season is only a couple of weeks away, so we'll be headed back there with Nana and Poppa when they're here!

Family Time

We don't have Memorial Day here in Canada, but today was Victoria Day and a day off for Scott! I thought I was going to New York to do a little grocery shopping, but since the weather was actually pretty nice, we decided to head to a park right off of Lake Ontario that is about 25 minutes from us. The girls enjoyed the ducks, swings/playground, and learning how to skip rocks with Daddy.

Last night the girls enjoyed playing outside before bedtime, and Addison discovered a new place to jump. And she jumped. Over and over and over again:) I'm thankful for an active little girl!

Doesn't she look so much older in this picture? I got a tear in my eye when I saw it...she's growing up too fast!

Poor Buster. He just wants to eat his peanut butter jar in peace:) Emma kept taking it away from him and then giving it back. He's so tolerant!

My American friend up here, Sabrina, gets a kick out of her tongue. She's always doing something funny with it!

Daddy's Home!

They hear the door open. Notice how Addison takes after her Momma here. She knows that Daddy is home, but that TV is just sooooo interesting!!

And this. This happens almost every time she eats. She really enjoys putting her hands in her hair. Ewww.

It's A Mystery!

This is for the grandparents! The video is almost 4 minutes long, but sometimes the conversations we have with Addison just make us laugh.

Addison came upstairs from playing in the basement with Daddy and began telling me how one of the puzzle pieces of the Pooh Bear puzzle they were working on was missing. (They are both really into puzzles right now!) She said, "It's a mystery!" Sometimes she surprises us by using words that we don't even realize she knows. Anyway, it takes forever to upload videos on our computer to blogger, so check it out here! If you cannot understand what she's saying, there are a few mysteries she's exploring.

1) Where is the missing puzzle piece?

2) Where is the feather duster Daddy is looking for?

3) Why did the onion go bad in the refrigerator?

4) Why is Addison having a hard time finishing her dinner most nights? (She's going through a phase where she doesn't like most things I make, won't each much dinner, and then wants to have a snack two minutes after dinner is over. I don't think so!)

We cherish the "nice" days right now. It's May 1st and it's not going to reach 55 degrees here this week. Lots of rain. No leaves on the trees yet. Boo! Send me your warm weather, please!

Emma still isn't walking (I'm not complaining though!). She'll be 14 months old this week and has ZERO desire to actually walk:) She has been cruising around furniture well for awhile, but won't even take a step or walk with any of the strollers/walking toys!

The only new thing happening around here is that Scott and I are getting into a small group at church this week. They are starting a brand new group that will have childcare at the church. The other option is a group at 8pm without babysitting and we really don't know any babysitters anyway! We're hoping it's a great fit. And, hopefully this will help the girls get used to their rooms-I never made it into the service today between the two of them:)
