Week 37

Despite being sick this week, I had a few fun things happen:
  • a Valentine package from Grammy arrived
  • as well as a package for Emma and Addie from Nana
  • a baby shower at the Cheesecake Factory with friends from church

I forgot to take pictures of most of it, but here is a picture of some gifts I got from the shower as well as a couple of blankets that Nana made for Emma. Thanks gals for a fun time!! Emma has some adorable new outfits and lots of diapers!

Aren't these burp cloths cute? Thanks, Emily!

Week 37 Picture. Emma comes two weeks from Monday!

Emma's Room

It's all done! Here are pictures of her room. THANK YOU FERRIS for sewing the curtains and pillow-they look GREAT!

*Please notice the new chair rail molding that Scott put up... it was quite a task with walls that have warped some and weren't totally straight.

Love this-Michael's for $7 on sale! It's one of those that you just press on the wall. I had to paint over the letters since they were originally a cream color and you couldn't see them, but it was totally worth it for $7!

A black frame I wasn't using anymore + spray paint + leftover curtain fabric and ribbon = cheap wall accessory for bows! Yet another craft I made using hot glue:)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Opening a couple of Valentine's presents from us this morning:

Addison's Big Girl Room

I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of her room!

Right before Emma arrives, we'll be moving her big kitchen in her room where the table is, but it works for now!

My favorite find: Butterflies/flowers from Babies R US. Totally worth every penny.

Ok, so that sweet smile makes up for the numerous times Addison kept messing up the room or crying when I moved something right before I was about to take a picture! She is quite particular about the way her things are placed... is she like her parents or what!?!

January Snow Storm

It's been snowing all day here in Tulsa and let me tell you, we are THANKFUL that the meteorologists were a little off in their forecast (we were supposed to have more ice with major power outages in the area). I think we have at least 6 inches of snow and it looks beautiful! After Scott got home from work, we ventured outside. Um, yes... those are plastic bags from Walmart on her shoes! We don't typically get that much snow around here so I never got her snow boots this year! It looks ridiculous, I know:) We missed the snow storm here over Christmas, so this is really her first snow of the year.
Learning how to walk in the snow!
Trying to eat the snow as it fell:

Waving hi to Daddy.

Scott tried to show her how to make a snow angel. Evidently Buster wanted in on the fun.

But, this is what happened. That is not a smile on her face!

And lastly, Addie's favorite part was eating the icicles off the windows.

Feeling Crafty

As I mentioned before, we're going non-stop around here trying to get things ready for Emma's room. We've chosen to use lavender versus pink this time around, but I've had a difficult time finding accessories. It seems like every store carries pink decor, but not lavender. So, as I was browsing etsy.com one day I found a few paintings I liked... but the gal who makes them lives in France! Scott looked at them and said, "You can definitely recreate those!" I remembered that a gal from my church (the one that I took the photography class from) recently made a painting with scrapbook paper, a little paint, and mod podge. Now, I don't consider myself crafty but I can certainly copy many things!! And that's just what I did. Here's a link to the painting that Ashley did on her blog. (You should check out the rest of her blog-there are some really cool ideas/gorgeous pictures on there.) Here is the one that I made to work in Emma's room.
All you need: canvas-I used 14x18 in., scissors, scrapbook paper, small bottle(s) of acrylic paint, brushes, glue/sealer (I used mod podge for both). Total cost: $15-20

And, since I was still feeling crafty, I made letters for Emma's name with scrapbook paper and mod podge. Once again, it was NOT easy finding cool scrapbook paper in lavendar! Tons of pink, but not much to choose from in the purple department!

Well, we're almost done with her room! I dropped off all of my drapes with my local sewing queen, Ferris, today. I'll take more pics when I get everything back!

Week 31

Wow, less than 2 months to go! We've been busy the past few weeks around the Beam house, which is why I haven't been posting. After we got home from NC, we got Addie new furniture for her room and transitioned her into her new big girl bed. It's been two weeks now and it's definitely getting better. I'm so glad we did this before baby girl comes, but man, I'm exhausted! Addison is still adjusting to her new bed and although she LOVES it, she's been waking up every night and has been sleeping a good 2-3 hours less each day. (Which means Momma is getting less sleep each day, too!) Thankfully, last night was the second night in two weeks that she didn't wake up...but unfortunately, I did!! It reminds me of the first couple of times Addison started sleeping through the night when she was a baby, and yet I kept waking up to check on her. Funny how that works:) No pics of her room yet... we still have a few finishing touches left.

Here's a picture of me at 34 weeks with Addison (I didn't like my 31 week pic from last time!):

And here I am this time at 31 weeks:

Someone else wanted a picture taken like Mommy, too...
Well, here's a sneak peak of her room. Scott had to babysit three girls 3 and under while their mommy and me went to a baby shower. Evidently the oldest girl told her mommy afterwards that "Mr. Scott is really cool." Notice even Buster got a spot on the bed:)

Snack time! Yes, that's a sweater on Buster. It was REALLY cold that day!

This weekend we started working on the new baby's room. We really wanted to keep it the same until everyone leaves, but since I'm in the nesting mode, I really want it DONE. So, we've had to rearrange furniture in the house, plus figure out what in the world we're going to do in the baby's room. We're still in the beginning/middle of this project, so no pics yet.

And finally, in the middle of all the craziness, I just had to make a couple of tutus for the new baby for pictures... they make me smile every time I look at them!
